How to be THAT GIRL.

Hello peps! 

I know it's been awhile but I've been a little busy... But of corse I am coming back with sparkling Witt and some awesome tips. Ever wonder how some girls look together EVERY day? You know that girl that has the right shoes, perfect make-up and hair, and not one wrinkle on that vintage tee. Guess what, you can be THAT girl. All it takes is planing. Once a week take time to plan your outfits, you don't have to have them allotted for each day like your five just have enough for all the times you think you are going out that week. Make sure everything is washed and ironed (yes ironed, you're a grown up now). Also find the accessories that go with each outfit. Then instead of woundering what you're going to wear for 30 minutes you can do the hair and make-up that goes with the out fit. That way you can walk out the door being THAT GIRL. okay hoped this helped!

Spring MBFW 2014; New York part 1

IT'S HERE!! Finally after months of waiting and crossing off days on the calender it is here. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York for the 2014 spring collections. A lot of you have asked some questions about this wonderful event so I am here to answer them.

1. Question: What is Fashion Week?
    Answer: Fashion Week Happens twice a year and is a time for all the designers to show case what they have been working on for the up coming seasons. It is only accessible for the press. You can not buy tickets. (sad face) Yes, you do see stars there but they are they to see the clothes and buy them. Then wear them on a red carpet and make us want the same thing. It's an chain of events and it works.

2. Question: Why is spring fashion week in the fall and fall fashion week in the spring?
    Answer: Well, putting the shows on early gives the chain stores time to keep up with all the main trends. That's why stores get coats in August and swim suits in January.

3. Question: Is the Fashion Week in New York the only one?
    Answer: No. Fashion Week actually started in Paris for a way to show case the clothes that designers where making. Well New York need to so the same thing so we took that idea. But it's okay because so did Milan, London, Miami, Berlin, Tokyo, Dubai And LA. Those are the ones that get more of the press, although the one in New York is the biggest.

Random Fact Time!
 -  Fashion Week is not actually a week, with all the designers it can not be. So it tends to run for about 7 to 10 days. But who cares?!? More Fashion for me.... I mean us.

Okay So now that  that is out of the way lets get down to the nitty gritty.

Get Inspired

      Its that time of the year, its still blazing hot, your summer fling is fizzling out, and your cute swim suit that you picked out at the beginning of the summer is almost on its last tread. Now, now. Don't cry in your soggy beach towel because there is hope. The September Issues are about to come out!! The epitome of all issues is going to land in your mail boxes soon. When it does, you can hit the refresh button on you.  Use now is the time for you to decide the persona you want to give off for this season. This new season there are going yo be many different options for you to choose from. From punk rock, to a royal rampage. Just make sure to take your time, pick and choose your pieces wisely. The Legging Situation

 Hello my fashion lovelies! It has been a couple of days and I would like to address a certain epidemic that is running rampant on our otherwise safe streets and causing smart, intelligent girls to, well frankly lose their freak'n minds. This sin I am referring to is wearing leggings as pants.

1. THEY ARE NOT PANTS. If they were, they would be in the pants section, not in the aerobics section at American Apparel.

2.They are not forgiving. Leggings show every lump, bump, and cellulite you have. They do not have the structure to hold in any amount of jiggle. And guess what guys are looking at that jiggle. Think about it ladies...

3.You're not 13. Unless you are in class passing notes to your BFF containing a Pro/Con list of if you should tell Johnny that you like him, it is time to put on the big girl pants. Leggings are unprofessional and make you look juvenile.

4.Oh yeah! Did I mention they are NOT pants??? At what point do you look in your closet and think, "Hmmm. I have jeans, a skirt and these awesome, flouncy pants i got at Kohl's. Oh, no! But Wait! I have these leggings! I will wear them as pants!It will be so grand!" No. Do you know what you are wearing?... A long sleeve shirt with a crotch built in.

BUT!!!

- They are Comfortable: Look I understand the need to be comfy. You know what else is comfy? Pj's, and I am sure you do not wear those in public, (and if you do i need to be writing a COMPLETELY different article just for you). We all look down on the girl on front of us at Walmart in last nights pajamas at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Well wearing leggings as pants is close to wearing pajamas in public. Do you know why? Because they are made out of the same fabric. Its like wearing your unmentionables. Lets leave something to the imagination.

-I See Celebs do it all the time: Yes, SOME celebs wear leggings..... but these people have bodies hand-crafted by God, or a really good trainer. The fact is you would look better in a jegging or a jean because it is holding you in. That will make you look way better . Dress for the body you have, not for the body you want to have. Except you body. LOVE your body.

- I know I look good: Please refer to numbers 1,2,3 and 4.

So, now that you know leggings are out, and I mean OUT like last nights kung pow chicken here are some alternatives.

And  if this Sparkling article witty commentary still has not changed your mind, and you are still going to wear leggings, here are a few ways to wear them responsibly. 

- Wear a shirt that covers your derriere.

- Do not wear them under a skirt. Get some tights if your cold.

- Avoid the ones that are white and grey.

 If all else fails just some goof ol' pants will do. Really ANY PANTS. They could have Simon and Garfunkel on them, I don't care. Just put some pants on. Its for the good of America.

Word of the day:Chevron

Alright the word of the day today is Chevron. Chevron is seen as a pattern on fabric made in a "V" or inverted V-shaped motif. You have probably seen this pattern everywhere from shirts to rugs. This trend is very in right now so go Chev-Rock your look now!

Fashion Rule #1

So helping people dress and teaching them things you run across some of the same questions a lot and one of the main questions i get is how to make an outfit look complete. A good rule of thumb is have 3 things on when putting together an outfit. Let me explain.

                   

Say you want to start with some jeans 

Then add a top

Now finish with a Jacket 

   
Now you have an outfit and look "put together" so to speak. You can totally apply this rule to skirts and dresses. If you have any questions just write and I will try to write back as soon as I can.

Monday Fix

Alright, so did you have a ruff  4 day weekend and need a monday pick me up? I have just the thing. This scrub will wake up that face for a long week at the office.
What you will need
-1/2 cup of coffee grinds
-1/4 cup of baby oil
-2 mint leafs
-mix it all together and apply to your face avoid eyes, lips, and mouth.
-scrub then rinse off.
Now you can wake up and be set for the work week!
